Our Story
Founded
January 1, 1976Larry R. Hardtner founded the business as Executive Security Systems, Inc. of America in Dallas.
Acquisition
August 13, 1991Acquired Charter Security Group, with offices in Austin, Bryan, Dallas and Waco. This signaled a commitment to mobile patrol and response services.
San Antonio
July 10, 1997Opened the San Antonio office.
Houston
September 13, 2006Opened the Houston office.
Fort Worth
May 1, 2014Opened the Ft Worth office.
Command Center
March 19, 2016Proprietary technology and processes developed with professional expertise, to launch our Virtual office. The Command Center now oversees operations in Athens, College Station, Edinburg and Waco.

Allen Coleman
President & CEO
First affiliated with GuardTexas in 1985, Allen left to form his own company, Charter Security Group, specializing in mobile patrol and response services in Dallas, Austin, Bryan and Waco. Allen returned to GTX in 1991 as Executive Vice President and has served as President since 1993. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He and Susan, his wife, married in 1992, have three children, Haley, a graduate of the University of Alabama, Samuel, a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and Allison, a graduate of Texas Tech University.
Larry Hardtner
Chairman & Director of Operations
Larry served in the US Army from 1961 to 1972. While earning the rank of Captain, he was awarded a Bronze Star with Valor medal, a Bronze Star medal, the Army Commendation medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Silver Star. Upon his discharge in Dallas, he took the position of manager for City Security Service, a division of Peakload, Inc. In 1976 Larry founded what is now GuardTexas, Inc. Larry is the TDPS-PSB Licensed Manager of the corporation and remains active in the day to day operations of the company along with his wife of 28 years, Sue Hardtner.
Rob Hundza
Vice President & COO
Rob has been with GuardTexas since January of 2009. Prior to GuardTexas, Rob worked 15 years as Controller in the Manufacturing and Construction Industries. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and attained his Master of Business Administration from Baylor University. Rob lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife Gina. His two children, Rich and Gabriella.
Scott Frech
Vice President of Business Engagement
Scott has been a steady fixture with GuardTexas for over 17 years. He started in a sales role in 2007 in the Dallas branch and quickly advanced into the General Manager position. In 2022, Scott was promoted to Vice President – North Texas. In 2024, Scott accepted a corporate position as Vice President of Business Engagement. He oversees the company’s sales and marketing departments along with service excellence. Scott has been in contract security for over 35 years starting his career in 1989 in St. Louis for Burns Security.
